Grand Kingdom is less of a story-based JRPG and more of a multiplayer strategy game. Ironically, when you get into a battle with other players you don't actively fight against each other for each fight.

The AI will control the opposing force for each battle (kinda like a Mobile game when you go into an Arena). However, each individual players contributions will still go towards winning a particular battle or war, and your squad's stats and equipment are still controlled by the AI when other players fight against your avatar.Edit: After playing it for a few days now I am actually pleasantly surprised at the amount of content Grand Kingdom has, so it has a lot more value than I originally thought. If I gave it a solid 7/10 before, now I would bump it up to 8/10.Odin Sphere receives high praise for the overall story, however you will repeat areas multiple times with different characters. It also caters more towards the platformer crowd, so if you love platformers and JRPGs then it might be right up your alley. Just be aware that some people find it a bit repetitive. If you love other Vanillaware games like Dragon's Crown and Muramasa then you'll also love this one.

As a fan of FF tactic and the Disgea series this game doesnt disappoint. I'm only a couple hours in at this point and there are some story elements to it but the focus is heavy on the mercenary lifestyle of just taking whatever job you want and working for whatever kingdom you want. The building of your squads and individual characters so far has absorbed alot of my time.Last thing worth mentioning, I havnt found a game within the last year that has kept me engaged for more than 2 hours without me feeling like its time for a break to move onto something else. I initially played the demo for about an hour, then immediately purchased the game. If you like turn-based, strategy rpgs, then this game is definitely for you.
