Amount of phials full when move is used determines number of explosions when it hits (1-5)(Also shield can be charged with only 1 phial as well but amount (1-5) determines duration of charge, and the glow of the sword determines amount of phials charged when using charge. As seen in the post made by u/Daeforce, I felt compelled to make a pc key combo image to complement, and help those in the first steps of the charge blade with more moves for those in need of understanding the combos (like me).Everything that is in the image is taken from Arrekz, so if you want more details just look for the video.
